“For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children”.
Romans 8:16 NLT

Look at this amazing truth in Romans 8:16: “For the holy spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers to our innermost being you are God’s beloved child.” It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to help you discover the reality of your sonship.
And so, you have the right to believe, according to the Bible, that God loves you just as much as He loves Jesus. That means, you could accurately say, “I’m the boy who brings Him joy,” or “I’m the girl who makes Him twirl!”
Jesus loves us, just as the Father has loved Him (John 17:23). That means you are not a second-class son or daughter in the Kingdom of God. That means that the intensity of the Father’s love for us is equal to the intensity of the Father’s love for Jesus.
A redeemed son gets redefined because of the Father’s love for him. All redeemed sons have a new nature, but that nature is forged through the lens of the Father’s love for us. This is super good news. That means your former identity, your “bad” self, your old nature has been forever buried. The Bible says that in your water baptism, Jesus included Himself. He included you in Himself, and then He buried your sin nature forever and left it in the ground. He deprived your old nature of its ability to stay alive.
Sometimes in religious circles, we try to reanimate our old man nature and then improve it. I’m telling you, that is wasted effort. The enemy tries to get us to do what God has already done for us. He tries to get the believer employed in wasted effort. But the truth is, you can’t kill yourself. You can’t bring to death your old nature because the Lord has done that for you. He included you in Himself and left your old nature buried in the ground. Then, when He rose from the dead, He also included you in Himself, which means you have risen with Him and are a new creature in Christ. You are no longer tethered to your old nature. In rising with Him, you defy the downward gravitational pull of your old nature.
Imagine this: at the moment of His resurrection, He’s rising, leaving earth’s surface. He is including you in Himself as He defies gravity – the gravitational pull of your old nature. He’s showing there is victory; your new nature in Him overcomes the downward gravitational pull of your old nature. The new nature wins because you go up with Him. You ascend, you don’t get pulled down. So then He severs the tether that keeps you linked to the identity of your old nature, and you go up with Him like a helium balloon. Can you picture it?
Because He’s proven the power of your new nature, defying the gravity of the old nature, that means our new nature is now our true identity! That is great news! I’ve said this before, but I want you to deeply understand this. The revelation of this truth has changed the way I deal with myself when I am not walking in my true nature. For example, on occasion, I may get annoyed by my wife and raise my voice to her. Now, the Holy Spirit convicts me of sin like this and does not let me get away with it. So, when I feel convicted, I repent (change my mind to line up in agreement with God). When I repent, I change the wording of how I repent, so that I’m not groveling or beating myself up.
Here’s how I do it: “Forgive me, Lord, for expressing my old nature.” And then I ask Him, “Will you coach me and help me to express my true nature?” My failure in my behavior does not redefine my identity. I am continually a loved and accepted son of God.
We declare to you today that you have full authority to walk in your true identity-your true nature! Any failure in your behavior does not redefine your identity. You are continually a loved and accepted son or daughter of God!
